Clinical epidemiology applies epidemiological concepts and techniques to enhance patient care. The MSc Program in clinical epidemiology equips healthcare professionals with skills to design, execute, and interpret epidemiological and health services studies, then implement findings in clinical settings. Candidates should possess a medical or healthcare-related degree. The program's ultimate goal is advancing individual and community health by fostering rigorous, multidisciplinary research.

Working across specialties, clinical epidemiologists help shape disease prevention initiatives, create patient decision tools, elevate healthcare standards, assess clinical and service interventions, strengthen public health, analyze community programs, encourage wellness, and guide health policy formulation.

Qualification Requirements

A baccalaureate degree, or its academic equivalent, from an academic institution recognized by the University of Alberta (GPA) - A GPA of at least 3.0 on most 4-point scales, or B on most letter grading systems, based on your most recent two years or last 60 credits of full-time study (or equivalent) is required.
The School of Public Health minimum score on an approved English language proficiency exam is:

TOEFL (Paper-based) - Minimum score of 580
TOEFL (Internet-based) - Total score of 92 (with a score of at least 21 in each of the individual skill areas)
IELTS (Academic) - Minimum overall band score of 7.0 (with at least 6 on each test band)
