Rooted in the heritage of Alberta's First Nations communities, this globally-minded specialization draws Indigenous learners from diverse fields and regions. The program merges traditional academic frameworks with collaborative initiatives involving Indigenous students, academics, and Knowledge Keepers. It seeks to empower Indigenous researchers whose scholarship honors the principles, ethics, and wisdom traditions of Indigenous communities worldwide. Cultural programming features introductory retreats, talking circles, guidance from Elders, and ceremonial practices. Following Indigenous protocols, prospective students in the Indigenous Education program can discover the curriculum through consultations with Indigenous professors, current students, and an Elder before enrollment.
