The Department of Political Science provides graduate programs for both Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Political Science, along with a Master of Arts in Policy Studies. The course-based MA in Political Science allows students to explore higher-level coursework while also completing a culminating research project. This final capstone paper should range between 7,000 to 9,000 words, including all notes and references. Students may build upon previous course papers, but the capstone must demonstrate deeper research, comprehensive literature analysis, and stronger argumentation. Evaluation of the research paper will be conducted by the student's advisor and an additional faculty member, who will assign a simple pass/fail grade without requiring an oral defense.
