The Department of Medical Genetics provides an MSc in Medical Sciences (Medical Genetics) (refer to Medical Sciences) as either a postgraduate training option for MD graduates or a standalone program for bachelor's degree holders. PhD degrees are awarded via the Medical Sciences program (see The Degree of PhD). Students can pursue research across multiple medical genetics fields where department faculty maintain active projects. For more information, please contact the Graduate Studies Director in the Department of Medical Genetics. The Department of Medical Genetics offers the MSc in Medical Sciences (Medical Genetics) program (see Medical Sciences), available both as specialized training for medical doctors and as an independent graduate path for bachelor's graduates. The PhD qualification is administered through the Medical Sciences curriculum (see The Degree of PhD). Investigative work spans diverse medical genetics specialties with ongoing faculty research initiatives. Applicants are normally required to have undergraduate degree with an admission GPA of at least 3.2 on the 4-point scale from the University of Alberta, or an equivalent qualification and standing from a recognized institution.
