The BFA Acting program offers an intensive conservatory-style education, focusing on comprehensive training in acting techniques, movement, vocal performance, dance, and stage combat. This highly competitive program readies graduates for professional careers immediately after completion. Recognized as one of Canada's premier university acting programs, it draws top talent nationally and internationally. Admission is limited to just 12 students per year (6 male and 6 female), with annual auditions held in February for September enrollment. Acceptance requires both a successful audition and meeting academic prerequisites through portfolio submission.

Qualification Requirements

English is the primary language of instruction in all Faculties except Facult Saint-Jean. All undergraduate applicants to any program or course except Facult Saint-Jean need an adequate level of English language proficiency before admission, regardless of their citizenship status or country of origin. The University of Alberta reserves the right to use discretion in determining adequate levels of language proficiency to ensure success in academic programs.
Graduation from a recognized degree program offered by an accredited university at which English is the primary language of instruction or in a country where English is the primary language.
A score of at least 90 on the TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language - Internet-based) with no less than 21 on each band.
A score of at least 6.5 on the IELTS Academic (International English Language Testing System) with no band less than 6.0.
A score of at least 70 on the Canadian Academic English Language assessment: CAEL (paper) or CAEL CE (computer) with no band less than 60.
