The Physical Sciences can be pursued as either a major or minor within a Bachelor of Secondary Education degree. This specialization focuses on preparing educators to teach Chemistry or Physics to students in grades 7-12, covering key disciplines like Astronomy, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, and Mathematics. Teaching is more than a profession—it's a vocation, and we're committed to shaping educators who will leave a lasting impact on their students. Through our Secondary Education program in the Faculty of Education, you'll gain the skills to inspire young minds across various subjects for grades 7-12. The program lets you tailor your path by selecting two specialization areas—a major and minor—aligning with your interests and goals.

Our Secondary Education curriculum features two practical teaching components: a five-week Introductory Professional Term (IPT) followed by a nine-week Advanced Professional Term (APT). Students typically instruct in their major subject during both terms. While designed as a four-year program, it's also available as an after-degree option. Graduates will qualify for teacher certification in Alberta upon successful completion.
