Students can pursue mathematics as either a primary or secondary specialization within the Bachelor of Secondary Education program. The curriculum emphasizes mathematical concepts, logical reasoning, and developing problem-solving abilities. Teaching represents more than just a profession—it's a vocation, and our mission is to support you in becoming an unforgettable classroom educator. Through our Faculty of Education's Secondary Education program, we equip future teachers to inspire curiosity and share knowledge across various subjects with middle and high school students (grades 7-12). The program features dual specialization options—a primary and secondary focus—enabling you to tailor your educational journey according to your interests.
This Secondary Education curriculum incorporates two practical teaching components: a five-week Introductory Professional Term (IPT) followed by a more intensive nine-week Advanced Professional Term (APT). Participants typically instruct in their primary specialization area during both terms. While designed as a four-year undergraduate program, it also accommodates those seeking it as a post-degree qualification. Graduates earn eligibility for Alberta teaching certification upon successful completion.
