This academic pathway caters to individuals who have already completed an undergraduate degree. Program duration varies based on transfer credits from prior university studies. The after-degree option is available both at the University of Alberta and through our Collaborative Off-Campus Program with partner institutions.

Our Faculty of Education's Secondary Education program equips you to inspire grades 7-12 learners across diverse subjects. You'll select two areas of focus — a primary and secondary specialization — enabling you to tailor your educational journey. The program features a five-week Initial Teaching Practicum (IPT) followed by a nine-week Intensive Teaching Practicum (APT), with instruction typically occurring in your primary specialization during both placements. While designed as a four-year undergraduate program, this degree also accommodates post-baccalaureate students through our after-degree option.
