Our Health Care Assistant (HCA) program adheres to the government-approved curriculum and is accredited by the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry. This nine-month program combines classroom instruction with practical experience in our advanced simulation lab, equipping you to assist seniors across various care settings including independent living, assisted facilities, long-term care, and end-of-life care. The HCA pathway offers an ideal career transition for internationally trained medical professionals looking to apply their existing knowledge in Canada's healthcare environment. Participants gain thorough exposure to Canada's healthcare framework. While some graduates choose to build lifelong careers as HCAs, others may advance to become Licensed Practical Nurses through our LPN diploma program. Stenberg College's Health Care Assistant program maintains accreditation with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry. Completing this program qualifies graduates for registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.
*Entrance requirements can be met with evidence of alternate assessments such as challenge exams, or acceptable standardized English equivalency tests as per the Stenberg College language proficiency chart.
