The Communications and Public Policy program examines how public engagement and policy development intersect. Participants will study communication's role in democratic processes, equipping them for careers across government, business, and nonprofit organizations. This unique Canadian undergraduate program combines communication studies with policy analysis, offering specialized coursework throughout all four academic years. Students gain hands-on experience through credited internships that enhance both their professional portfolios and industry connections.
Interactive small-group classes prioritize dialogue, critical thinking, and collaborative learning.
The Frank McKenna Centre for Communications and Public Policy at St. Thomas University organizes conferences, panel discussions, and guest lectures featuring prominent thought leaders.
All instruction is delivered directly by faculty members—never by teaching assistants—ensuring students receive guidance from experienced practitioners and scholars.

International Applicants - In addition to a high school transcript, international applicants whose primary language is not English must also arrange to have an official copy of their English proficiency scores sent directly to the Admissions Office. 

Adult Learners - Submit a 1–2-page typed letter describing your educational background, work experience, and academic plans. Mature candidates must also submit academic transcripts - e.g. high school, GED if applicable.

International Applicants Currently Studying in Canada - The English language proficiency score requirement may be waived for students who graduate from a high school in New Brunswick with a final grade of 70% or higher on English 122 or 121. The University reserves the right to evaluate students’ English proficiency upon arrival - academic-credit English Language Support courses may be required.
