The Policy Studies major within the four-year Bachelor of Arts program equips students with comprehensive knowledge in policy theory, political science, and economics, complemented by hands-on work experience. This combination ensures graduates are well-prepared for advanced studies or diverse policy-related roles across public, private, and non-profit sectors.
Mount Royal University is among the select Canadian institutions offering undergraduate policy studies. Its Department of Economics, Justice, and Policy Studies integrates economics, political science, and policy studies, creating a uniquely balanced curriculum. Graduates gain theoretical expertise and practical abilities—including quantitative analysis, computer skills, writing, and presentation—enabling them to navigate complex interactions between businesses, governments, NGOs, and policy communities. They will be equipped to research, formulate, and assess policy initiatives, qualifying for roles like management assistants, policy analysts, and economic researchers in various sectors.
A paid internship, typically completed in the third year, allows students to apply classroom learning in real-world settings. With rising demand for policy professionals across Canada, Mount Royal’s BA in Policy Studies directly addresses contemporary economic, social, and political issues. Graduates not only recognize these challenges but also have the tools to develop meaningful solutions.
