As a P-1 Licensee certified by the Law Society of Ontario, a Paralegal offers legal services within their authorized practice area. This encompasses representing clients in provincial offences court for matters like traffic violations, municipal by-laws, liquor licensing disputes, workplace safety concerns, and small claims court cases. Paralegals can also advocate for clients facing minor criminal charges in the Ontario Court of Justice. Their representation extends to various administrative tribunals including the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal, Human Rights Commission, and Landlord and Tenant Board, among others.
Program Highlights
The curriculum incorporates office simulation exercises along with practice hearings and trials.
Beyond completing a 140-hour work placement, students can participate in St Clair College's Forms Completion Clinic, gaining hands-on client experience while serving the community.
This Paralegal Program meets the accreditation standards set by the Law Society of Upper Canada's Paralegal Education Program Accreditation Policy (PEPA).
Career Opportunities
Graduates can pursue careers as independent practitioners, join law firms, work in corporate legal departments, or find positions with government agencies and administrative tribunals
