The Court Transcription certification equips students with expertise in creating precise transcripts by applying grammatical and punctuation rules to recorded legal proceedings, utilizing machine shorthand and specialized transcription software. Beyond court documentation, graduates can pursue roles as scopists and proofreaders to assist in legal transcript preparation. Career opportunities extend to creating transcripts and live captions for various scenarios including disciplinary hearings, arbitration sessions, emergency calls, interviews, investigations, corporate meetings, and prerecorded digital media.

Court Transcription professionals enjoy significant flexibility in their schedules and work locations since they primarily handle recordings. Many can operate from home offices while serving clients provincially and nationally.

This intensive one-year certificate program offers graduates a pathway to advance into the Captioning and Court Reporting diploma program for further career development.
