Join a dynamic and sought-after profession. Our Community and Justice Services program examines the criminal justice system with a focus on corrections and rehabilitation. Gain skills to assist individuals throughout legal proceedings, incarceration, and post-release reintegration. Graduates can pursue roles as correctional officers or support professionals in halfway houses and community organizations.
Sheridan's Community and Justice Services curriculum provides comprehensive preparation for real-world challenges. You'll study key social sciences including psychology, criminal law, and criminology through interactive lectures, expert presentations, and collaborative exercises. The program also facilitates valuable networking with community organizations.
This program features two practical field placements. After an initial career assessment interview, you'll gain hands-on experience at a justice-related organization. Potential settings include adult correctional facilities, youth centers, community programs, or residential care institutions. These placements often lead to future employment opportunities.

Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, including these required courses:
One English, Grade 12 (ENG4C or ENG4U) or
Mature student status.

PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English) online or in person - overall score 58 with no individual section below 49
Duolingo English Language Test - overall score of 105 with no individual subscore lower than 85
Cambridge English Test Exams (B2 First/C1 Advanced/C2 Proficiency score) - overall Cambridge English Scale score 169 with no individual score below 162
CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language) online or in person - overall score 60 with no individual section below 50
Sheridan EPA test - Listening Band - 4.0 Reading Combined Band - 4.0 Writing - CLB 7
Sheridan's ESL program EAP level - A minimum score of 70% in listening and speaking and 70% in reading and writing. General Education courses and Navigating Digital Environments (INFO) minimum required grade of 50%.
