The SCA's Master of Arts in Contemporary Arts program fosters cross-disciplinary thinking with an intermedial approach. Students develop comprehensive, multidisciplinary skills by analyzing their focus area (whether an artwork, movement, or concept) through diverse theoretical and historical lenses spanning art history, film studies, performance studies, and digital media.

This practice-oriented program offers funded research trips, opportunities to edit the CMA Journal, arts internships, exhibition curation support, graduation symposium organization, and thorough career training in publishing, public speaking, grant writing, and audience engagement. Alumni typically pursue careers as curators, arts administrators, cultural programmers, critics, or working artists, while others continue to doctoral studies in visual and performing arts.

Featuring small class sizes, cross-disciplinary curriculum, and globally recognized faculty, SFU's School for the Contemporary Arts creates an intellectually vibrant setting for fine and performing arts scholars.
