Launching its inaugural cohorts in September 2023 and January 2024, this one-year graduate certificate equips students for careers focused on creating sustainable, inclusive, and equitable urban spaces. Beyond applying technical competencies gained in the program, learners will synthesize economic, socio-cultural, political, and environmental factors to devise innovative approaches for urban development and transportation initiatives.
Through case study examination, the curriculum deepens students' comprehension of land development alongside environmental and societal challenges. It also acquaints graduates with the legal foundations of urban planning. Participants will explore contemporary legislation and policies for building sustainable neighborhoods while improving urban infrastructure and transit systems. Students will gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge tools like Geographic Information Systems (GIS) while mastering core urban planning principles, policy structures, and professional practice frameworks.
