This eight-month certification course equips you with essential techniques for managing public interactions and operating in emergency response situations, even under intense pressure. As an emergency services dispatcher, you'll frequently serve as the initial point of contact for individuals facing emergencies or crises. The curriculum blends theoretical knowledge with hands-on simulations that mirror real-world scenarios encountered by 911 operators and emergency responders. You'll develop skills in documenting and evaluating call data, understanding how this vital intelligence shapes emergency responses. Our program employs a hybrid learning model, combining digital and traditional methods to create an adaptable educational experience. After fulfilling mandatory training hours and passing certification tests, you may qualify for APCO's Public Safety Telecommunicator credential. Students who complete Ontario Police Foundations programs can transfer four credits toward the Emergency Services Communications certificate's twelve-course requirement.
