Aligned with modern industry requirements, this one-year certification program offers an immersive, practical curriculum that includes crisis communication, incident response, relevant laws, and personal well-being. Gain proficiency with cutting-edge Intergraph® Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) software as you handle simulated emergency calls in our lifelike telecommunications training lab. The program culminates in a six-week spring semester placement opportunity.
Before beginning the field placement (around Week 2), applicants must obtain Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) certification. Prior keyboarding experience is advised, as students must achieve a typing speed of 40 words per minute to graduate. Placement partners may perform criminal background checks and retain the right to refuse placement access without explanation. Students who fail a Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) will be ineligible for field placement and will fail the Field Experience course.
