Mechanical engineering technology (MET) connects engineering principles with technical disciplines, offering diverse and fulfilling career paths. This field integrates scientific and engineering theories with hands-on applications to develop solutions and drive innovation. With its concentrated curriculum and two-year format, MET is perfect for those looking to enter a technical field or transition careers.
Mechanical engineering technologists (METs) participate in every phase of design, development, and implementation—guiding projects from initial concept through execution and long-term maintenance across various industries. Whether you aim to apply design and analytical expertise or shape policies and process enhancements, the adaptable MET program equips you with essential skills.

Career Opportunities
Graduates of Mechanical Engineering Technology find employment across multiple sectors, both in Saskatchewan and globally. Key local industries include resource extraction, manufacturing, construction, and research/design. MET professionals are also well-positioned to contribute to growing fields like energy efficiency, decarbonization, and reliability engineering.
Career roles may include mechanical design for engineering firms, supervising specialized equipment production, optimizing industrial processes, or managing construction projects. Entry-level positions span mechanical drafting, product testing, instrumentation, systems inspection, and technical sales/support. Employers range from engineering consultancies and industrial manufacturers to equipment suppliers, utilities, and government agencies.
