The Global Development Studies Department offers an interdisciplinary program that draws on various academic fields to examine the unequal global distribution of wealth, social privileges, and quality of life. This field of study focuses on research aimed at driving social progress and systemic changes to create a more equitable world.
Students in Global Development Studies undertake research, evaluate diverse perspectives, and participate in practical initiatives to deepen global understanding and improve living standards worldwide. Those considering this program should consult with either the Global Development Studies Undergraduate Coordinator or a Faculty of Arts Undergraduate Advisor.
The department strongly advises development studies students to develop proficiency in a second language related to their research focus. Students may particularly benefit from the language certification programs offered by the Modern Languages Department.
