The Department of Mathematics and Statistics boasts an exceptional team of faculty researchers renowned worldwide for their expertise in diverse specialties. Their work spans numerous disciplines such as pure mathematics (covering algebra, algebraic geometry, analysis, dynamical systems, number theory, and probability), mathematical physics, engineering applications (including control theory and information/communication theory), mathematical biology, along with both theoretical and applied statistics. The Department fosters robust partnerships between its Mathematics and Engineering faculty and colleagues in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, particularly in communications and control theory.
