The Department of Mathematics and Statistics boasts an exceptional team of faculty researchers renowned worldwide for their expertise in diverse specialties. Their work spans numerous disciplines such as pure mathematics (covering algebra, algebraic geometry, analysis, dynamical systems, number theory, and probability), mathematical physics, engineering applications (including control theory and information/communication theory), mathematical biology, along with both theoretical and applied statistics. This vibrant academic community is strengthened by a dynamic cohort of graduate students hailing from Canada and beyond. The Department fosters robust partnerships between its Mathematics and Engineering faculty and colleagues in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, particularly in communications and control theory. Additional interdisciplinary collaborations focus on biostatistics, involving joint appointments with researchers from the Faculty of Health Sciences' Clinical Trials Group and our statistics faculty. Kingston's Royal Military College further enhances our research landscape through its close proximity.
