The Department of Geological Sciences and Geological Engineering offers graduate programs and research initiatives across Earth Science disciplines. Our faculty's expertise covers geology, geochemistry, and geoengineering, frequently through interdisciplinary approaches addressing both economic and environmental challenges. Students benefit from access to state-of-the-art facilities including geochemistry and geophysics laboratories, geomechanics computing resources, and Queen's Facility for Isotope Research. These resources enable participation in pioneering geoscience and geoengineering projects. Additionally, our program fosters global connections through partnerships with industry leaders, government agencies, and academic institutions worldwide, while offering field research opportunities across six continents. Students may also pursue collaborative projects with other Queen's University departments such as the GeoEngineering Centre at Queen's & RMC, Mining, Environmental Studies, and Civil Engineering.
