This Master's program focuses on thesis research. Students must complete a research thesis, the ELEC 891 seminar course, and four graduate-level courses. Two of these courses must be chosen from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering's graduate offerings. For the remaining two courses, one may be either a 4th-year undergraduate class or a combined undergraduate/graduate course, under these conditions:
The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department boasts nationally and internationally acclaimed researchers. Unlike many large departments, ECE fosters a tight-knit community between students and faculty. Our distinguished faculty includes 2 Canada Research Chairs, 1 Queen's Research Chair, and 4 IEEE Fellows. As a mid-sized department, Queen's ECE maintains its tradition of producing industry, academic, and government leaders. Graduate students benefit from modern workspaces and state-of-the-art research facilities. The department houses several research centers, including the Queen's Centre for Energy and Power Electronics Research (ePower) and Lightwave Systems Research Laboratory. Students enjoy interdisciplinary collaborations with departments like Mathematics & Statistics, Physics, Computing, Mechanical Engineering, and the School of Kinesiology and Health Studies. ECE actively participates in Queen's Computational Science and Engineering graduate program. Additionally, students can gain global experience through summer placements and conference attendance worldwide.
Student must have Bachelor degree in Engineering or closely related field (e.g. computer science, physics, mathematics).
