The Collaborative Masters Program in Applied Sustainability (CMAS) represents a forward-thinking initiative that expands upon the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science's strategic focus on practical sustainability solutions. This interdisciplinary program brings together faculty from six departments: Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Geological Sciences and Geological Engineering, Mechanical and Materials Engineering, and Mining Engineering. A distinctive feature is the participation of the School of Policy Studies (SPS), which provides specialized courses and faculty advisors to jointly guide CMAS candidates. Aligned with the Faculty's sustainability strategy, CMAS aims to equip students with the ability to apply sustainable engineering practices while understanding their relationship to overarching sustainability principles. The program ensures engineering students not only enhance their technical expertise but also develop an understanding of how policy decisions influence the effectiveness of engineering approaches to complex sustainability challenges across various disciplines.
