The Department of Mathematics and Statistics boasts a distinguished team of faculty members renowned globally for their expertise across diverse disciplines. Their specialties span pure mathematics (encompassing algebra, algebraic geometry, analysis, dynamical systems, number theory, and probability), mathematical physics, engineering applications (control theory, information and communication theory), mathematical biology, along with both theoretical and applied statistics. A vibrant community of graduate students from Canada and beyond further energizes the research atmosphere. Strong interdisciplinary connections exist between Mathematics and Engineering faculty, particularly in communications and control theory, with colleagues in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science. Additional collaborations focus on biostatistics, involving joint appointments with the Clinical Trials Group in Health Sciences and our statistics faculty. Kingston's Royal Military College's nearby presence also contributes valuable dimensions to our research initiatives.
