The Artist in Community Education (ACE) program caters to working artists across visual arts, music, drama, and creative writing disciplines. This program leads to Ontario College of Teachers certification. It's available to final-year Concurrent Education students and Consecutive Education teacher candidates. Both Primary-Junior and Intermediate-Senior candidates complete four consecutive terms from May through August the following year, allowing Queen's graduates to enter the workforce sooner. Intermediate-Senior candidates must choose one teaching specialization from four options: Dramatic Arts, Music, English, or Visual Arts. The program includes 20 weeks of placements, featuring an alternative practicum that can be completed globally in any arts-related setting outside traditional schools. Travel grants are available for international educational experiences, including alternative practicums. The program fosters collaborative learning and examines how artists and arts education positively impact schools, communities, and society. ACE maintains small cohort sizes, enabling intensive collaboration that builds lasting personal and professional connections throughout participants' careers.
