Ecosystem health examines how external toxins impact ecological systems, identifies environmental issue markers, and devises strategies to reduce human contact with harmful substances. The discipline also explores associated fields like environmental microbiology, the mechanisms behind environment-related diseases, and both microscopic and large-scale environmental cancer triggers. Moreover, studies concentrate on particular ecological challenges and crafting remedies that serve Canadian communities.
The PhD in Applied Bioscience aims to cultivate expert researchers bridging chemistry and biology. Through its department-free structure, the Faculty of Science fosters cross-disciplinary collaboration, enabling students to thrive in team-based research environments. These graduate programs provide comprehensive scientific training—both hands-on and theoretical—preparing graduates for leadership positions in life sciences. This is accomplished via self-directed research and demanding academic coursework. By uniting diverse scientific perspectives among students and faculty, the programs enhance educational outcomes. Aligned with institutional priorities, the research focuses on developing breakthroughs to enhance Canadian quality of life.
