Meet the prerequisites for Law school admission through our Legal Studies program, where you'll examine the fundamental characteristics, structures, and purposes of law
Contemporary debates—whether arising from political disputes, technological advancements, economic disparities, or societal shifts—frequently find their expression and resolution within legal frameworks. Our Legal Studies curriculum enables you to analyze law's societal roles and its intersections with community, governance, and social systems through various theoretical lenses. The program fosters justice by developing civic engagement abilities, analytical thinking, and appreciation for diversity, inclusion, and fairness.
You'll gain insight into law's multiple manifestations—both institutional and informal—while assessing it through varied viewpoints. The curriculum encourages examining whether legal systems adequately address the needs of all societal segments, including Indigenous communities, racialized groups, newcomers, economically disadvantaged populations, women, 2SLGBTQ+ individuals, and people with disabilities. You'll investigate legal dimensions of pressing issues like national security, internationalization, digital innovation, and ecological concerns. The program explores diverse conflict resolution approaches—from conventional judicial procedures to alternative methods like mediation.
Graduates acquire competencies valuable for professions involving legal investigation, policy evaluation, rights protection, conflict mediation, and understanding data privacy/access matters. The program also provides foundational preparation for advanced studies in legal fields, juris doctor programs, or paralegal/mediator accreditation.
