Develop sophisticated theoretical understanding and hands-on expertise in curation and art criticism.
The Criticism and Curatorial Practices (CCP) graduate program specifically aims to help you master advanced research techniques in art curation, art history, and critical writing.
Through this program, you'll generate original insights by conducting distinctive research on artists and their works within evolving frameworks of exhibition, interpretation, and study. The curriculum prepares you to innovatively apply theoretical foundations, historical perspectives, and artistic influences to lead in contemporary arts and cultural environments.
Application for admission into the MFA in Criticism & Curatorial Practice at OCAD U is a highly competitive process. Applicants must hold a BA, BFA, BDes, or comparable honours degree/certification with an average of 75 per cent (B+) or better during the last two years of study, or must demonstrate exceptional experience/expertise as a practising artist, designer, critic or curator. All applicants must demonstrate creative and conceptual competence at a high level.
English language competency
TOEFL IBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-based test) Overall score of 90 and no scores below the following: 22 Reading, 20 Listening, 22 Writing, 22 Speaking.
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Overall score of 7, and at least a 7 on each of the academic modules.
