As an Occupational Therapy Assistant/Physiotherapy Assistant (OTA-PTA), you'll implement therapeutic interventions for patients with both mental and physical health conditions, working under the supervision of licensed Physiotherapists or Occupational Therapists. These professionals play a vital role in healthcare teams by directly engaging with patients.
OTA-PTAs employ practical techniques to enhance patients' daily functioning and overall wellbeing.
Their duties also include maintaining treatment spaces and overseeing equipment acquisition.
This program teaches you:
Both the theoretical foundations of occupational and physiotherapy practice, along with hands-on application through clinical placements and practicums.
How to educate and empower patients and their families to manage movement restrictions, daily activity challenges, and functional limitations (whether temporary or permanent) throughout the recovery process.
Career opportunities
Program graduates work in partnership with Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and other healthcare providers.
