Program graduates will qualify to work with K-12 students across various educational settings, including resource rooms and mainstream classrooms, as well as alternative environments like early childhood programs, daycare centers, Head Start initiatives, and private tutoring services.
The curriculum equips students with essential competencies for collaborating with educators and children in diverse learning environments. Course content covers child development, language assistance strategies, academic intervention techniques, behavior guidance approaches, special needs education, effective communication methods, and the professional duties of educational support staff.
Field placement forms a crucial component of this Certificate program, allowing students to implement theoretical knowledge in practical scenarios. Opportunities for practicum placements beyond Grande Prairie may be arranged, with each case evaluated individually.
