The Millwork and Carpentry program equips you with practical skills for designing and building wooden structures, cabinetry, shelving, and furniture. This certificate program covers two classic woodworking disciplines - Cabinetmaking and Carpentry - focusing on tool usage and safety protocols. Participants choose to specialize in either cabinetmaking or carpentry, with each track concentrating on materials and methods specific to that field. The Cabinetmaking (Millwork) concentration teaches students to construct various casework pieces including doors, drawers, moldings, and hardware, while introducing diverse industry materials. The Carpentry specialization offers foundational knowledge in residential construction, covering structural framing and finishing work.
Graduates of the Millwork and Carpentry program demonstrate these key qualities: strong safety awareness, proficiency with tools, teamwork skills, physical stamina for prolonged standing and kneeling, hand-eye coordination, strength for heavy lifting, mathematical accuracy, and a professional attitude toward woodworking.
