The Drawing & Painting program helps you develop as an innovative and thoughtful artist. Focus on honing your studio techniques while exploring art theory, history, and modern societal topics. You'll gain skills in articulating your artistic vision through both verbal and written presentations. Course offerings span diverse mediums including digital art, landscapes, figurative work, mixed media, and abstract painting.
Faculty members will inspire you to experiment with digital art forms, installation pieces, and unconventional painting techniques. As practicing artists themselves, instructors offer career guidance and personalized critiques to support your growth. You'll receive multiple chances to showcase your creations in professional public exhibitions.
First-year students can enter the Drawing & Painting program directly. Applicants choosing this specialization undergo portfolio reviews by program faculty for the limited direct-entry spots. Those not accepted for direct entry may join the general first-year program to discover other artistic disciplines while still having access to painting and drawing courses.
Advanced Studio provides a concentrated studio setting where students develop multiple projects and perfect their technical abilities. Through dialogue and research, they build conceptual frameworks for their art within required and elective coursework. This structure offers students more creative freedom in shaping their final year of study. The program encourages enrollment in Criticism & Curatorial Practice, Fabrication Studio courses, and interdisciplinary electives throughout the Art Faculty.
