The Master of Arts in History program includes coursework, a Major Research Project, and a presentation at the yearly Graduate Student Conference. Students can choose between a one-year intensive track (Fall, Winter, and Spring/Summer terms) or a three-year flexible schedule (nine consecutive terms). The program focuses on key historical disciplines: International, Gender, Canadian, European, and Environmental studies. Our distinguished faculty specializes in diverse areas such as environmental studies, genocide research, indigenous scholarship, political history, and intelligence studies. This program combines academic coursework with an in-depth research project (MRP), typically finished within twelve months. The MRP allows students to conduct original research while engaging with established scholarship in their field. Designed to prepare students for doctoral studies or professional careers, the program enhances critical research and writing abilities. A unique highlight is the spring Graduate Student Conference, where participants showcase their research proposals to peers and scholars.
Delve into environmental history as a specialized discipline, examining its critique of anthropocentric historical approaches and its connections to geographical studies and environmental science.
