Nipissing University offers four specialized streams: Policing, Corrections, Criminology, or Criminal Justice Studies. Our adaptable curriculum provides an optimal mix of academic knowledge and hands-on experience. Students engage with criminal justice practitioners through fieldwork, research projects, and practical assignments.
Opting for the Corrections pathway allows you to obtain both a Canadore College diploma and a Nipissing University degree within four years. Canadore's curriculum covers psychological principles, reintegration strategies, program development, and interview techniques, complemented by practical placements. Corrections students develop expertise in management, group processes, and therapeutic interventions.
Our emphasis on integrating academic concepts with real-world application ensures graduates are highly employable. Alumni frequently secure positions with Correctional Services Canada, provincial police forces, federal agencies like the RCMP, and organizations such as the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre. Career paths include analytical roles, frontline correctional work, law enforcement positions, and judicial system roles. Many pursue advanced degrees in law or graduate programs at master's and doctoral levels.
