The Bachelor of Arts in English program allows students to delve into diverse areas of English studies. The Department of English, Languages, and Cultures provides instruction in writing, creative expression, cinema, literary works, and critical analysis. Upon graduation, students will understand not just the historical and genre-based classifications of English literature, but also how language influences our daily perspectives. They'll be equipped to explain the cultural forces behind literary creation across different regions, including Canada. To reach this depth of knowledge, students complete various courses covering multiple literary forms, genres, media, and cultural production methods.

Qualification Requirements

High school: High School applicants must present five Grade 12 level courses for admission. Included in these five courses, applicants must present the required subjects for their intended program of choice. The specific courses required for your program count towards your Group A courses. The additional subject(s) which may be presented for admission include the following courses from Group A, B, or C. High School/Secondary and/or Post-secondary (transferable to MRU) courses 2 years of full-time study in English (see list of English-speaking countries below) and English Language Arts 30 – 1 (equivalent)
