The Ultrasound program at Michener is an accredited postgraduate program that blends classroom learning, simulation training, and clinical experience. Clinical placements are available across Ontario and other Canadian provinces.
In their clinical year, students undertake the Canadian Clinical Skills Assessment (CCSA) as mandated by Sonography Canada. Passing the CCSA is essential for program completion and progressing toward certification as a Generalist Sonographer.
Program graduates qualify to take Sonography Canada's national certification exams for Generalist Sonographers (covering core/abdominal/superficial structures, vascular imaging, and obstetrics/gynecology). After passing these exams, graduates may register with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) to practice in Ontario. The Generalist Credential also enables graduates to work nationwide, subject to provincial regulations.
