The Department of Mathematics and Statistics comprises more than 30 faculty members and 80 graduate students. Our distinguished faculty includes 5 University Research Professors (the institution's highest honor) and a Canada Research Chair holder. Several department members have earned Presidential awards for both Research and Teaching excellence. This academic distinction has gained international recognition, with our department ranking #267 globally in Mathematics according to the 2024 U.S. News and World Report University Rankings.
MSc – The Master of Science program offers specializations in either Mathematics or Statistics, with admissions exclusively for the Fall semester.
The Mathematics program provides two pathways. The thesis-based option combines graduate coursework with original research, typically completed in two years by full-time students. Alternatively, the course-based intensive program spans three semesters (one year) and includes graduate courses plus a final project.
The Statistics program requires graduate coursework and a thesis, with full-time students generally finishing within two years.
