The Marine Institute at Memorial University provides three Fisheries Science degree programs. The Master of Science in Fisheries Science (Fisheries Science and Technology) is an intensive research-based graduate program designed for students seeking careers in fisheries science. This curriculum equips learners with specialized training to perform high-quality, publishable research across all fisheries science domains.

The Master of Science in Fisheries Science (Stock Assessment) is another research-intensive graduate program tailored for students pursuing careers in stock assessment - a specialized fisheries science field. Professionals in this area analyze diverse data sources to develop models that estimate marine organism populations and determine sustainable harvest levels. While requiring similar foundational skills as general fisheries scientists, stock assessment specialists must additionally master the advanced mathematics and statistics central to this highly quantitative discipline.
