The Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Memorial University provides graduate programs with thesis requirements for both Master of Engineering (MEng) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in Mechanical Engineering.
Research facilities for mechanical engineering feature specialized labs covering automation, control, computing, fluid dynamics, thermal transfer, and structural analysis. These include unique resources like a low-speed wind tunnel, SEM/XRD material analysis tools, multiphase flow systems, climate-controlled chambers, wave simulation tanks, advanced imaging technologies, and mechatronics workspaces. Additionally, the campus houses a manufacturing innovation hub and rapid prototyping center, supported by comprehensive technical services including precision machining and CNC operations.
Typically completed in two years, the MEng program mandates four coursework modules, a seminar component, and a research thesis.
Applicants must have completed Bachelor's degree (minimum second class or ‘B’ standing) in an appropriate area of study.
The minimum English proficiency test scores are as follows:
TOEFL: An aggregate score of 80 (92 for graduate programs with higher English proficiency requirements).
IELTS Academic: An aggregate score of 6.5 (7 for graduate programs with higher English proficiency requirements).
Duolingo English Test: An aggregate score of 115 (125 for graduate programs with higher English proficiency requirements).
CAEL - A score between 50 and 60 in each of four bands, with at least 2 band scores of 60.
MET: A score of 59%.
PTE Academic - Minimum scores of 58 in each of reading, writing, listening, and speaking
