The Ethnomusicology MA and PhD programs at Memorial University present distinctive pathways for those passionate about exploring music as a cultural phenomenon. These programs deliver comprehensive training in modern ethnomusicological theories and methodologies, alongside immersive studies in musical ethnography and cultural history. Memorial's Ethnomusicology graduate studies blend interdisciplinary learning, with courses available through both the School of Music and Folklore Department. MA – This program focuses on core research methodologies, particularly ethnographic fieldwork techniques. Alongside foundational coursework, students conduct original, appropriately scoped independent research projects.
