Our graduate programs include a 12-month coursework MA without fieldwork, a thesis-based MA requiring ethnographic research, and a PhD program also involving fieldwork. We additionally provide a one-year graduate diploma that doesn't demand research work.
Alumni from our graduate programs have pursued careers as professional anthropologists or applied their anthropological training in diverse fields like journalism, film production, and policy development. The Department has increasingly incorporated film and video into research methodologies, enabling many graduate students to create ethnographic films alongside their thesis projects.
The MA program features both coursework and thesis pathways. The thesis route involves substantial ethnographic fieldwork and typically takes two years, while the coursework option can be finished in one year without research components.
