Safety and risk management play a crucial role across numerous complex engineering fields including offshore operations, petroleum refining, and mineral processing. Modern engineering practices employ diverse methodologies to evaluate safety, risk, and reliability during both design phases and operational activities. These assessment tools have become fundamental components of safety regulations governing hazardous facilities and industrial processes.

Memorial University's MASc. and graduate diploma programs in safety and risk engineering provide comprehensive training in these methodologies and their practical implementation across various industry challenges.

Students may pursue these programs either full-time or part-time, though no financial assistance is available. The course-based curriculum requires completion of 30 credit hours distributed across three subject areas.

MASc – The Master of Applied Science programs in Computer Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, Environmental Systems and Engineering Management, Oil and Gas Engineering, Safety and Risk Engineering, Software Engineering, and Sustainable Infrastructure Engineering consist solely of coursework and can be finished in under two years of full-time enrollment.
