Our graduate programs include a 12-month coursework MA without fieldwork, a thesis-based MA requiring ethnographic research, and a PhD program also involving fieldwork. We additionally provide a one-year graduate diploma that doesn't demand research work.
Alumni from our graduate programs have pursued careers as professional anthropologists or applied anthropological training to journalism, film production, and policy development. The Department has increasingly incorporated film and video into research methodologies, enabling many graduate students to create ethnographic films alongside their thesis work.
PhD – The Anthropology PhD curriculum includes coursework, comprehensive examinations, and dissertation research, typically completed within four years of full-time enrollment.
