Marine biology explores ocean life, examining how marine species behave and interact with their surroundings. The marine biology program offers hands-on learning experiences through laboratory work, field excursions, and project-based classes. Students can dive into practical studies at our Bonne Bay Marine Station or pursue independent research projects at the Ocean Sciences Centre.

This joint major in Marine Biology is co-managed by the Department of Ocean Sciences and the Department of Biology. The curriculum includes foundational courses in oceanography and biology, supplemented by diverse science electives.

Annually, we host engaging field courses at the Bonne Bay Aquarium and Research Station, situated in Gros Morne National Park along the province's western coast. This top-tier facility supports marine ecology research and education, featuring labs, vessels, a resource center, aquarium, multimedia theater, and on-site housing.
