Studying French at McMaster immerses you in one of Canada's official languages, a globally spoken tongue used by millions across Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, North America, and Asia. Our "Francophonie et Diversité" focus introduces you to the vibrant literary and cultural heritage of French-speaking societies.
The Department conducts all instruction and communication in French, accelerating your language proficiency. Annually, we host teaching assistants from France to help refine students' skills. The program also offers third-year exchange opportunities at universities in France or Quebec.
