Expand your career opportunities with our process and power engineering diploma program.
This program encompasses two levels of power engineering certification. During your first year, you'll obtain your 4th class certification - a prerequisite before advancing to your second practicum between academic years.
For 3rd class training, you'll transition from the Cenovus Power Engineering Lab to the more advanced Energy Centre, featuring an integrated power plant with a once-through steam generator.
Power engineering focuses on the safe operation and maintenance of boilers, turbines, and engines. Career options extend beyond oil industry roles to include positions in:
electrical generation facilities
chemical manufacturing plants
food production facilities
healthcare and institutional power systems
Lakeland's distinctive advantage lies in our second-year steam practicum. We secure placements for students, often paid positions, following 200 hours of hands-on lab experience.
Upon completion, you'll be eligible to take ABSA's certification examination.
