The Department of Health Sciences provides an on-campus, thesis-focused Master of Health Sciences (MHSc) program aimed at equipping students with the expertise to conduct supervised research in various health-related fields. By completing core courses and selecting specialized electives, students can cultivate both broad understanding and focused expertise in their chosen research area. While students may opt for quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-method research approaches, foundational proficiency in both quantitative and qualitative methodologies is mandatory. The program's flexible design permits elective coursework in research methodologies or discipline-specific subjects. Priority consideration is given to applicants with prior training in research methods (e.g., statistics, qualitative research, epidemiology, or general research methodologies).
Through its curriculum, the Department of Health Sciences fosters comprehensive knowledge of public health and health sciences by examining individual, community, and organizational perspectives. Our graduate programs prepare students to become skilled health professionals and researchers capable of improving the wellbeing of Canada's population.
