Whether you're a seasoned outdoor enthusiast or just beginning your adventure journey, our program demonstrates how outdoor activities are becoming more vital in today's society. These experiences enhance mental and physical wellbeing, strengthen family bonds, enrich culture, foster environmental awareness, and drive economic growth. Through hands-on learning, you'll develop critical thinking skills about our world and explore what it means to create a more equitable, sustainable society. Our curriculum frequently connects students with industry professionals and incorporates impactful service projects that benefit local communities. We aim to equip you for success in this dynamic field - from designing guided excursions to developing visitor programs for parks and community organizations.
Unique to our program is the Nature-Based Therapeutic Recreation specialization, along with dual degree possibilities in Geography, History, Gender and Women's Studies, and Natural Science (Biology). You can also pursue Concurrent Education, completing your Outdoor Recreation degree while preparing for our two-year professional teaching program.
