Humber's Construction Engineering Technology program is one of three modular programs in the Carpentry-Construction cluster. Together with the Carpentry and Renovation Techniques certificate and Building Construction Technician diploma, this program provides foundational knowledge in carpentry trades and commercial project management while offering hands-on training in trade regulations, commercial building methods, and cost estimation. Learners can progress from various certificate and diploma options (including Carpentry and Renovation Technician, Industrial Woodworking Technician, Carpentry and Renovation Techniques, and Building Construction Technician) into the advanced diploma pathway. The curriculum examines the construction field through both engineering and management lenses, equipping students with essential strategies for commercial project planning and implementation.
Program graduates will develop construction management and engineering competencies to qualify for entry-level roles in commercial construction. According to a 2017-2019 labor market projection by Canada's Employment and Social Development Canada (EDSC), the Greater Toronto Area anticipates robust construction sector growth driven by workforce expansion needs and retiring professionals.
An optional co-op placement is available with this program. These optional work terms allow students to implement classroom knowledge in professional settings while acquiring practical industry experience. Participants will develop workplace skills, gain career insights, and establish professional connections within their field.
